Purchases at Kensington

Here I am! It has taken me a while, but I'm eventually able to show you some of the things I bought at the Kensington fair!
A few cookie cutters, so that I can attempt making my own cookies (duh!!!!!!), if I ever manage to develop my techniques with Fimo clay... (I haven't lost my hopes yet!). And a couple trays. I want to try and fill them with some kind of food, possibly desserts, because I love sweet things :)

And then I've bought this beautiful crocheted set that I'm sure will fit perfectly in a kids clothes shop! The dress is just amazing, it has tiny buttons at the back and it even opens. The little girl who'll get to own this dress will be a very lucky one!

I couldn't resist, I had to buy this bed cover as well. It reminds me of the ones I used to have when I was a child. So I had to have one. This will not go in the shop, but in one of my previously made dolls houses. But of course I might always change my mind....I love rearranging things around my mini houses ;)

And a huge stock of silk ribbons! The pic doesn't show you all the ribbon sizes and colors I bought. Well, I think that now I can start making some more hats for my shop! Actually I've already got enough hats to fill two shops, but I just can't stop making millinery! I love it!

I've bought a few more things, but I haven't taken pics yet. Unfortunately the weather here is horrible, and it's hard to get a light which is good enough for taking photos.
Have a good evening!

Kensington Dollshouse Festival

As promised, here are a few pics of the Kensington Dollshouse Festival!!!!!
I couldn't help it! I had to take a pic of my autographed book....and I had to share it with you :) :) :)The not-so-much-crowd! Well, it was lunch time, everyone (me included) were upstairs eating sandwiches and resting our feet!!!!!

Very nice flowers. Too bad you can appreciate it, but it has been so hard trying and take decent pictures with those nasty amber lights everywhere!

Some vintage looking bottles....oh, so pretty!!!!!!!

A sneak peak (or possibly two) of a modern house....

I hope you have enjoyed this quick tour of the show. It's just a shame that so many exhibitors wouldn't let people take pictures...
In the next post I promise I'll show you my purchases!

Tiny kitty!

This is the new cat of the family. He has got home on Friday. He needs lots of love and care, and....a name! Any suggestions?! We are all trying to come up with a nice name for him, but so far nothing!
Kensington festival has been absolutely fantastic! I've had a nice chat with Mulvany & Rogers too; they are very nice people, it has been a pleasure to meet them! And of course I've bought a few things. All the pics later on, after I've downloaded them.
Come on, any name for the cat????!!!!

Kensington Dollshouse Festival

Yay, I can't wait for tomorrow morning to be here already! As a matter of fact I've booked my train ticket to go to London!!!!!! But guess exactly where I'll be heading in London?!?! The Kensington Dollshouse Festival!!!! I'm so excited, I'm sure tonight I won't even be able to fall asleep, I'll be thinking in a 'mono-channel' way about miniatures :)

Of course I'll take with me my camera and I'll take as many photos as I can. And I'll be showing you my purchases.

In the meantime I want to welcome my new followers! I'm almost at 50, wow, for me it's still unbelievable that there are so many people interested in my miniatures!

So, a huge welcome to:

Pastry swans

Yes, I've made my own version of pastry swans for my patisserie. I can't believe I'm working on several shops at a time...One day I'll write down for you the entire list of the shops which will be featured in my shopping centre, I promise ;)
So, anyways, I've got a long way to go before I manage to handle Fimo in a proper way. But possibly by the time I'll complete all the shopping centre I'll have developed some skills! I think I'll need to find some decent tutorials on the internet / buy some books, because I don't know much about clay.
Right, it's now time to divert my attention from my beloved miniatures to my studies!
Have a good evening everyone,
Lucia

Still working on my millinery shop...

I still need to decorate the ceiling and hang the beautiful chandelier I bought in the room, before I can display all my hats in there. And I've got to paint all the hat stands too! And the skirting is missing too....And a counter....and hatpins and loose feather...But I couldn't help trying a few hats in the shop, to see what it will look like...
If you zoom in the pic, you can even see a hat with 64 roses on top. I made that hat for my mom's 64th birthday last year :)

Millinery shop! The floor...

Good evening everyone. Today I'm going to show you the millinery shop - works in progress. In the first picture you can see the Versailles parquet I made. This floor has been sooooo time consuming, as I have already told you, it has taken me one hour to complete one single square! Feel free to count the squares and figure out how many hours have gone into this parquet! But I'm so pleased in the way it has turned out :)
In the second pic I thought I'd show you the very 'professional' way in which the floor has been glued into place...Hey, I can hear you giggling at the sight of all that ferrous material!
I hope you've enjoyed to see these pics :) More to come soon!

Cupcakes

Yesterday I've had a lot of fun baking some miniature cupcakes. It is my first attempt, and I must admit I'm quite pleased with the results! And I've got so many ideas on how to decorate cupcakes...I think my miniature patisserie will be over filled :)
